The Industry-Academia Consortium for Higher Education Program on Offshore Wind (IACOW) and MOPA co-organized and held a mini-session entitled “Paving the Way to a Decarbonized Future with an Expansive Network” at the Global Offshore Wind Summit-Japan 2024.
From MOPA, Managing Director Uemura spoke as speaker and Chairman Sekine delivered closing remarks. We will continue to explore ways to collaborate with IACOW in the future. To everyone who participated and IACOW, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you.

MOPA supported and sponsored as platinum sponsor of the Global Offshore Wind Summit-Japan 2024 organized by JWPA and GWEC held at the Sapporo Convention Center on September 3-4, 2024. MOPA booth was also visited by many visitors and business cards were exchanged with 107 people. Also, first-glade of electrical course students from Muroran Technical High School visited us as part of their class.
The official MOPA reception held on September 2 was a great success, attracting more than 150 participants from not only MOPA members but also non-member companies, organizations, and local governments. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your attendance.

2024.05.14MOPA Regular Seminar held.
On May 14, 2024, we held our regular seminar, which was attended by 199 MOPA members on-site and more than 30 of those participated via online. Following the opening address by MOPA Chairman - Sekine and greetings by Muroran City, we received greetings from new member companies, followed by an explanation of trends by MOPA Research Group Leader - Yoshida, and presentations by MOPA member companies PowerX, Inc., Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha - NYK, and DENZAI K.K. After that, we had presentations on “Offshore Wind Power and Industrial Promotion in Hokkaido” by Mr. Naoto Ikeuchi, Manager, Promoting Partnership Division, Planning and Policy Department, City of Ishikari, Hokkaido, “Efforts to Communicate with Local Communities in Offshore Wind Power Generation” by Ms. Ayano Takeuchi, Associate Professor, Department of Environmental Science, Faculty of Science, Toho University, and “Offshore Wind Power: Present and Future” by Mr. Satoru Shiraishi, Councilor, Cold Regions Air And Sea Ports Engineering Research Center, which were invited from outside the MOPA. The meeting was a great success, and we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the participants.

On May 14, 2024, at THINK M (Muroran City), where the MOPA office is located, and online, the 5th Study Group on Collaboration between fisheries and offshore wind was held.
This time, we welcomed Mr. Naoyuki Misaka, Manager, Research Department of the, Local Independent Administrative Agency Hokkaido Research Organization, spoke about “Salmon Farming”.

2024.03.04MOPA exhibited a booth at Wind Expo (Spring) 2024 from 2/28 to 3/1
MOPA exhibited a booth at WIND EXPO (Spring) 2024 held in Tokyo Big Sight. At the booth, we explained MOPA's vision, the potential of the Port of Muroran, and reported on the activities of WIND HOKKAIDO, which was held last year. During the exhibition, we had many visitors from Japan and abroad, and exchanged business cards with 573 people. MOPA's activities were also introduced at the offshore wind power seminar where Managing Director Uemura spoke on the first day.

On February 16, 2024, at THINK M (Muroran City) and online, we held the first meeting of 2024, the fourth workshop to consider coexistence with the fishing industry.
This time, we welcomed Mr. Yohei Shimizu, Mariculture Fisheries Research Institute (Muroran city), Fisheries Research Institute, Hokkaido Research Organization. He spoke about Hokkaido's basic plan for cultivated fisheries and the efforts being made at the Mariculture Fisheries Research Institute. We would like to take this opportunity to thank him.

On November 22, 2023, at THINK M (Muroran City) where the MOPA office is located, the 3rd Study Group on collaboration between the fisheries industry and Offshore Wind was held. This time, not only MOPA members but also Mr. Yoshimasa Sawa (Attorney at Law (Japan and New York), Oh-Ebashi LPC & Partners) and Professor Ryo Kawabe (Professor (Director), Research Center for Environmental Resources of the East China Sea, Institute of Ocean Future Innovation, Nagasaki University) who spoke at the MOPA regular seminar in the afternoon, joined us to share case studies and research results from other regions. We will make use of this information in our future activities. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your participation.
2023.11.22Annual general meeting and Regular Seminar were held.
The MOPA Annual General Meeting and Regular Seminar (formerly Opinion Exchange) were held at Houraiden in Muroran city on November 22, 2023. The activity and income/expenditure reports for the 4th fiscal year, as well as the activity plan and budget plan for the 5th fiscal year were approved, and four new board members were elected. The regular seminar was followed by the annual meeting, which was attended by over 150 members who participated on-site and over 30 members who participated via online. Following the opening remarks by Chairman Sekine, and 13 new member companies gave their greetings. Following an explanation of trends and activities by Managing Director Uemura, Research Group Leader Yoshida gave a presentation on "Current Status of Offshore Wind Power Generation in Hokkaido". Presentations from Daichu Technologies Co., Ltd. and JFE Steel Corporation were held, and then "Introduction of consensus building process in advanced regions" was explained. The meeting was a great success. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the participants.

2023.08.30Lecture given at the Hokkaido High School Science and Mathematics Teaching Study Group.
On 30 August 2023, MOPA Executive Director Kazuto Narita and Research Group Leader Masahiro Yoshida gave a lecture to over 40 science and mathematics teachers from all over Hokkaido at the 56th Hokkaido High School Science and Mathematics Teaching Study Group held at Muroran Sakae High School in Hokkaido. We hope that this will help to spread the word to high school students, who will be responsible for the future in Hokkaido, and to further boost the momentum of offshore wind power in the future. Thank you very much for giving us this valuable opportunity.

On 8 June 2023, we had the opportunity to introduce MOPA's activities during a lecture on Hokkaido Industry. Approximately 120 students attended the lecture, it was very exciting lecture. Thank you very much for inviting us.

On 23 May 2023, an opinion exchange meeting was held, attended by 113 MOPA members at the venue and more than 20 MOPA members via the web, as well as members of the provincial parliament.
Following opening remarks (by MOPA Chairman Sekine), greetings from Muroran City and guests of honour, we received greetings from 18 new member companies. An explanation of trends from MOPA President Uemura, followed by information from MOPA Research Group Yoshida on the launch of sub-committees, and then presentations from MOPA member companies by JGC Japan Corporation and SSE Pacifico K.K. 2023.01.26Muroran Offshore Wind Forum 2023 was held
Muroran Offshore Wind Forum 2023 was held at the Muroran Civic Hall and attended by 510 people, more than the capacity of the hall, from all walks of life, including citizens.
In addition, more than 150 people were able to watch the forum on the web at any given time.
In addition to the keynote speech, two panel discussions were held at the forum. The audience was filled with interest and enthusiasm as the speakers spoke of the importance of working together with a wide range of people to create a vision and strive to realize it.

On August 10, 2022, we submitted a "Request for the Promotion of Offshore Wind Power Generation Business and Related Industries in the Muroran Area" to the Mayor of Muroran City, requesting that the following items be actively and quickly addressed together.
Requests
(1) Actively promote understanding of offshore wind power generation projects in the region.
(2) Establish a forum to deepen understanding between the fishery industry, which is a prior user of wind power, and the industries of both parties.
(3) Proactively work to attract demonstration projects utilizing the Green Innovation Fund and other projects implemented by the government (NEDO) in order to promote understanding between both parties.

2022.02.01Muroran Offshore Wind Forum 2022 was held.
The Muroran Offshore Wind Forum 2022 was held at the Muroran Civic Hall and was attended by 340 people from the public, Diet members and various fields.
In addition, nearly 400 people participated in the forum via the web.
There were three keynote speeches and two panel discussions at the forum, and the speakers spoke enthusiastically about the potential of Muroran Port as a base port for offshore wind power construction.

2021.10.21An opinion exchange meeting was held with a total of about 84 participants including MOPA members (including online), Diet members, members of the Hokkaido Assembly and Muroran City Assembly.
Following Mr. Uemura's introduction of MOPA's business, presentations were made by Orix, Mitsui O.S.K Lines, Taihei Dengyo and JGC Holdings who presented their initiatives, technologies, and services.
